Simulator difficulty disables all of the functions that aided you previously such as the radar and alternate views, it also adds handicaps that restrict your freedom of movement and ability to transit quickly between targets and speeds. Apart from completing the campaign chapters, you also have to, at some point, complete a single successful landing. There are 4 achievements to be had on Simulator.

The campaign on Simulator difficulty is not to be taken lightly, but if you have completed Realistic you will now have the know-how and confidence to tackle it. Pull the left thumbstick down until you are halfway into a Loop, then push the left thumbstick left or right to correct yourself.Ĭompleting all five of these manoeuvres on Realistic will unlock: Wait a while (no more than 2000ft though) then hold the two thumbsticks outwards (the left to the left and right to the right) to correct the aircraft's flight pattern and take you out of the spin. The aircraft should stall and begin to lose altitude dramatically forcing it into a spin. Make sure your altitude is 9000ft+, slow down to 0%, then using the left and right thumbsticks roll and yaw violently. Push the left thumbstick left or right until you are upside down, then pull the left thumbstick down gently until you correct yourself. Correct your pitch if you begin to drift and hold it until you return level again. Increase speed to max, then pull the left thumbstick fully down. Push the right thumbstick to the left or right and begin to yaw, then push the left thumbstick in the same direction. Each successful manoeuvre will be confirmed by a symbol showing under your radar. I found smaller aircraft with little firepower to be useful (like the Po-2 or La-7). If you keep failing any one of these, try using a different aircraft. You will have to successfully perform five specific manoeuvres on Realistic difficulty, but not necessarily in the same mission. Also, set the enemies to a non-aggressive bomber such as the He-111H-6 or Arado-234 and set the starting altitude to 9000ft. Go back to the training missions and select a powerful aircraft such as a Spitfire or FockeWulfe.

If you do however feel confident enough to move straight to Simulator difficulty, you'll have to at least complete the 'Master Of Acrobatic Flight' required on Realistic first.
